You might have forgotten the seemingly never-ending wait for the M365 Roadmap feature regarding transcript storage, deletion, etc., that has been “rolling out” since June.
It still hasn’t been updated from that status.
I’ve been watching it because I’ve been waiting to see if I can get a transcript from the native eDiscovery tools.
We discovered a few months ago that Premium eDiscovery would parse the text associated with the MP4 file to get a transcript, but once again, those of us with an e3 license are left out.
However, during my work day last week, I noticed something a little different about a meeting where we had turned on transcription, but not recording, as part of a Copilot test.
An MP4 file was stored in the Recordings folder in OneDrive. It did not have video or audio, but it seemed to hold the transcript text for playback.
This raised the obvious question: Is it a transcript that can be collected or a video file with no text included in the export?
